TLRA 2023 Scholarship Application

Scholarship Guidelines

The TLRA Board of Directors has approved a total of up to $10,000 in scholarships, to be awarded to current 2023 eligible high school graduates and one (1) special scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to be awarded to an eligible high school graduate enrolling in a lineman trade school (lineman’s college).

Applicant’s parents or legal guardians must have been a participant (Journeyman team member/ Apprentice), Judge, TLRA Advisory Board Member, Volunteer, BBQ Team member, Vendor or Sponsor at the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo since 2005. Proof of participation must be documented by the TLRA.

Proof of full-time enrollment (12hours) in an accredited Texas college, university or trade school must be provided to the TLRA. Proof must be sent to the TLRA within 90 days of the start of the Fall 2023 semester for payment.

Check will be made payable to the student and parent and/or legal guardian. Proof of legal guardianship may be required. Copy of birth certificate may be required.

Recipient must provide a photo for TLRA publicity purposes.

Applicant must provide a typed 250-word minimum “Personal Statement” that describes student’s background, future plans, career goals, financial needs and why he/she should be considered for the TLRA scholarship.

Recipients will be notified by May 19, 2023, and then a complete list of recipients will be posted on the TLRA website.

Selection of recipients shall be made by the TLRA Board of Directors.

Dependents of the TLRA Board of Directors shall not be eligible for this Scholarship.

In all cases, the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo Association, Inc. will have the final decision on the awarding of each scholarship, and, if for any reason an applicant is found to be ineligible by the TLRA, the scholarship shall not be awarded.

Applications and all requested documents for the Scholarship must be postmarked no later than April 28, 2023.
